Progress Report February-April 2020 / Brand reload

The world became a different place recently. Many things have changed. I was pondering quite some time if I should publish this progress report. In a way, it is like a time document for myself or the next generation to see how Self Branding, Hospitality, Digital Marketing has changed in this moment of time. The Coronavirus is the biggest media event in history and my content had to change accordingly. In February I was still expecting that Brexit will shape the future of hospitality. I was so wrong. Almost the whole Hospitality Industry has vanished in a month time.

My Website

If you google “Lost in Hospitality” my Website shows up now as one of the first search results. This was not the case in January. A lot of people did start searching for Lost, Jobs, Hospitality which got them to my website. I am still not sure if this is a good sign.

I didn’t publish many articles in these 3 months, with the Outbreak of COVID-19 most of my prewritten and filmed content lost its appeal. With the hospitality industry on his knees, I had to take a step back and revaluate my content accordingly.

I redesigned my Brand Style to align it with my YouTube Presence. Have a look at my new Logo and Appearance.

I will explain everything in this video, which I made before COVID-19, so my apologies for “Happy 2020” in the beginning.

How about social media?

Marketing is crucial, but for now, I didn’t have much time to advertise my content.

Instagram, I tried to post every day for a couple of weeks, but it’s a Hit & Miss with my random content. So I decided to align it more with my YouTube Content and follow my Brand colours/style.

Pinterest, it’s interesting to see how many women are on this platform and for which kind of content they are looking for.

TikTok Videos are ready, just have to release them. Was hard to make the decision between IG, YT or TikTok but in the end, the virality and power of TikTok won.

Facebook didn’t engage much with my page. Did some Ads just to see how the response is. Maybe I am opening my Group soon. You can join here…

LinkedIn is especially useful if you want to build a Brand in a specific Niche.

Twitter didn’t bother once again.

Quora, I tried to answer a question every day. Its very time consuming, to be honest.

Gronda, a Social Media for Hospitality Professionals. Posted some articles there. Almost zero responds.

Goals / Challenges Quartal 2 / 2020

According to recent events, I will postpone my goals and challenges. I will focus mostly on building up my YouTube Channel.

Some points I learned in the last three months:

+ Ear pain, never underestimate or you get tinnitus for life

+ Breakdown bigger Tasks in smaller junks

+ stop consuming other creator content, or it will consume you

+ It's possible to read a book a week (especially in quarantine)

+ creating a specific sleep pattern and morning routine was a game-changer

+ you need to link your Website to Google? Why no one is telling you this?

Conclusion

Making my content a priority is challenging if there is less visible progress. There are excuses left and right why I decreased my Content Output. (Home-schooling/ No Outside Filming etc.), but it would be too easy to take only COVID – 19 for it. It just didn't felt right. In times like this, it’s important to cheer people up so I did some experiments with Instagram Posts and now with little “YouTube Hospitality Parody Clips”. At the beginning of the year, I also stopped working for the Swiss Company, I was doing Customer care for quite a while. So now it is all in with “Lost in Hospitality”. Wish me luck!
